Public asked to submit patriotic designs for Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade T-shirt

Organizers of the 2025 Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade are trying something new this year. They are holding a contest, asking the public to submit designs for the official parade T-shirt!

Anyone interested can draw out his or her design and submit it to the Town of Pawleys Island by the deadline, Friday, April 25. This year’s shirt will be red.

The winning T-shirt design will be chosen to represent the 59th annual Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade.

Pawleys Island Town Administrator Daniel Newquist said the design needs to be submitted to the town’s email address in PDF or JPEG format. He said the event committee has already received a few entries, but members are interested in receiving even more to choose from for the official shirt design.

“We will definitely have a winning design that will be featured on this year’s T-shirt,” Newquist said. “We urge anyone who would like to submit a design to do so.”

Scott Townes, a member of the event committee that will choose the winning design, said this is the first year the town has asked the public to submit creative ideas for the T-shirt. He said the design needs to be “patriotic with a Pawleys’ flare.”

“We hope it will spark even more interest in the parade and T-shirts sales,” he said. “The parade has become an annual family tradition for all the 4th of July visitors and inlanders themselves through the years, and it seems to get bigger every year.”

He said the first July 4th parade on Pawleys Island was organized in 1966 by a resident named Nancy Bonderant, who was affectionately known as Miss B.
